IOD PARC at the European Evaluation Society Conference

Join IOD PARC at the 2024 European Evaluation Society Conference in Rimini, Italy, where we will participate in ‘collaborative thought and action for better evaluation’. We will lead or contribute to three sessions on a range of topics, from the principles of localisation to the resilience of Ukrainian evaluators and artificial intelligence.

The European Evaluation Society conference is an opportunity for people involved in evaluation, whether commissioners, evaluators, or those who use evaluations, to come together to share experiences and lessons. This year’s conference combines ‘methodology with theory, philosophy, and ethics to address real-world problems’, with a focus on intersectoral engagement and large-scale issues.

Colleagues from IOD PARC will be involved in three sessions – and we’d love to see you there:

  • In ‘Personal Resilience and Synergies of Ukrainian Evaluators: Finding Possible Solutions In Impossible Situations’ Sarah Bolger and colleagues from Ukraine and Poland will reflect on conducting evaluations during times of conflict. Wednesday, September 25th, 3.30pm, Vecchia Pescheria.
  • In a session on AI challenges in practice, Enrique Young and Jake Barrett will discuss their work with natural language processing to assess cross-cutting issue integration in the archives of a major bilateral donor. Thursday, September 26th, 3:30 pm, Parco 2.
  • Sarah will also be sharing her thoughts on applying the principles of localisation to the practice of evaluation in a session on culture, community and local knowledge in evaluation. Thursday, September 26th, 3:30 pm, Breakout 6.

We’re looking forward to meeting everyone in Italy—come find us, and we hope to see you there!
