Vijay Shrestha //
I have 25 years experience in managing and administering large scale development programmes in the natural resources sector including financial management, personnel management, monitoring systems, reporting and capacity development. I am experienced in donor management systems (especially with DFID) and working in partnership with multiple organizations including government, donor agencies and civil society. I am also experienced in implementation of field-based programmes that deliver targeted results, especially in livelihoods, poverty, climate change adaptation, forestry and social development.
My working experience has given me a range of practical management skills and capacities. These enable me to deliver results and advise others on how to achieve results within donor-funded development programmes. I have a strong track record of operating in complex social and institutional environments and with large, geographically dispersed programmes – often during periods of conflict. Having been in charge of a donor funded forestry sector programme as a Programme Manager, I have skills in design, implementation and management of donor-funded programmes (for example programmes of over $40 million). Having worked on and managed projects in the natural resource sector, I have an in depth understanding of natural resources, forestry and climate change sub-sectors, especially in relation to community-based development and poverty reduction.
