Stuart Astill //
I have over 20 years of experience working at the heart of analytical, strategic, policy and operational thinking in Government. This has taken place in a variety of settings working with public officials, private-sector, third-sector and academic experts, elected representatives and ministers. My strong qualitative and quantitative skills span performance analysis, statistical, economic and operational research functions. I have a breadth of experience identifying and tackling emerging high-profile issues, carrying out impact assessments and establishing innovative projects.
My skills have been applied to create insights improving decision making, operational efficiency and VfM with the UK National Audit Office (NAO), the European Commission, UK government departments and in cross-UK government projects. Latterly, as Senior Principal Economist and Lead Analyst for finance and performance analysis in the UK Department for Work and Pensions (the Labour and Social Security Ministry) I led on the strategic improvement of performance and VfM systems and analysis of total expenditure. I also had lead responsibility for improving performance understanding for the UK Government's Contracted Employment Programmes.
In all my work I ensure a focus on creating transparency and collaborative working across the stakeholders to enable well-informed decision making.
As well as my practitioner and academic work I am an experienced speaker, trainer and coach on technical subjects, personal development and management/leadership skills.
